Yin/Yang Yoga
Yin and yang are the two complementary forces in the universe.  Yang is associated with active
energy, light, movement, and heat.  Yin is associated with receptive energy, darkness, stillness, and
coolness.  While no yoga practice is exclusively yin or yang, the Yin class will be less muscularly
strenuous.  We will
hold poses for longer periods of time and focus on the connective tissue around a
joint.  The Yin class will end with movement work in a Yang sequence.  In the Yang class, we will
move through sequences of postures to
build heat and muscular strength in the body.  The Yang class
will end with holding Yin postures to release and relax the muscles.  (1½-hour class)
